A number of conventional and specialty TV broadcasters have signed general agreements with SODRAC.
The first of these agreements was signed in 1992. |
Under these agreements, the following TV broadcasters are authorized to reproduce works in the SODRAC repertoire for archival purposes and for broadcast
via conventional, cable and satellite channels, in addition to video on demand (VOD) and, in certain cases, via simultaneous Internet broadcast.
- TVA Group
- Illico
- CBC/Radio-Canada
- Télé-Québec
- V interaction inc. (formerly TQS)
- MusiquePlus-MusiMax
- Consortium de télévision Québec Canada Inc. (TV5)
- ARTV
Please note that in addition to works already in the SODRAC repertoire, these agreements cover the integration of musical works synchronized exclusively
with these broadcasters’ in-house productions.
In the case of musical works that will be used and synchronized in external productions made by independent TV producers, please refer to the
1st integration (synchronization) section.
In addition, on December 14, 2009, the Copyright Board of Canada issued an
interim decision fixing the royalties for a licence and the related terms
and conditions for the TV channels operated by the Astral Group (Canal D, Canal Vie, Historia, Séries +, VRAK.TV, Ztélé) and Teletoon Inc.
(Teletoon in French, Teletoon Retro, French and English). The arbitration hearing will begin on June 1, 2010; the Copyright Board’s final decision will be issued
at a later date.
