After several years of representation, we are pleased to announce a partial settlement in the dispute between SODRAC and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The parties have come to a mutual agreement regarding the value of the synchronization of your pre-existing works and commissioned works in the CBC / SRC’s internal productions for the 2012-2017 period.
SODRAC therefore retroactively collected royalties due for these synchronizations for its entire repertoire used in the CBC / SRC’s internal productions. The analysis process for an upcoming distribution is initiated.
We are still awaiting the decision of the Copyright Board, following the decisions of the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court and our return to the Board in September 2017 regarding the value of the ancillary broadcast copies made by the CBC / SRC.
