The SODRAC 2019 Annual General Meeting has been postposted

We hope that you have are safe and healthy and have been able to get through the various phases of COVID-19 lockdown these past few months.

We want to advise you that the SODRAC – managed by SOCAN Reproduction Rights – annual general meeting has been postponed due to the many challenges presented by COVID-19. We are accustomed to holding our AGM’s in person and instead have now found a reliable partner to provide secure registration and voting for online participation.

The annual general meeting will now be held on November 17, 2020 with a modified plan to hold the meeting online with full registration and voting capabilities.

As with most nonprofit organizations, SODRAC successfully applied to Corporations Canada for postponement and is accordingly holding the event in advance of the required deadline of December 31, 2020.

Even though SOCAN acquired SODRAC in 2018, an annual general meeting must be held to report on 2019 SODRAC results..

We look forward to reporting on 2019 financials and activities to you as soon as possible and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through the details.

IMPORTANT: If you have not completed your transfer from SODRAC to SOCAN Reproduction Rights we encourage you to take action now since your transfer is not automatic.

SODRAC will ultimately be dissolved and, without your formal transfer to SOCAN, the collecting and distribution of your future reproduction royalties could be delayed or in jeopardy.

Publishers should therefore transfer now.

Writers and Screen Composers who are unpublished or have partial catalogues that are unpublished should transfer now.

Writer clients are not required to take action where they have assigned 100% of their rights to their publisher.  You may want to consult with your publisher on this.

For information on how to transfer visit:

As always if you have any questions please contact reproduction@socan.com.

The official notice of the SODRAC annual general meeting will be sent by the end of October.
